Sherlock Calls
for Google Drive
The document that explains why a customer called is always buried somewhere in Drive. Sherlock follows the file trail — searching, retrieving, and reading Google Docs, contracts, call reports, and sales collateral as part of any voice call investigation. No Drive tab required. The case file is already open.
TL;DR — What beta users get access to

About Google Drive
What is Google Drive?
Google Drive is Google's cloud storage and collaboration platform with over 3 billion files stored and used by more than 3 billion people as part of Google Workspace. The Google Drive API (v3) provides programmatic access to files, folders, metadata, and content via OAuth2. The drive.readonly scope — required by Sherlock — allows reading and searching all files accessible to the authorized Google account without the ability to create, modify, or delete content. Google Drive stores the documents, spreadsheets, and presentations that capture the institutional knowledge behind customer relationships.
About Sherlock Calls
What is Sherlock Calls?
Sherlock Calls is an AI call detective that lives in your Slack workspace. It connects to voice providers, CRMs, and ad platforms, then answers any question about your calls in plain English — in under 5 seconds, with no code, no new dashboards, and no SDK required. Think of it as a senior analyst always on call, inside the tools your team already uses.
Beta Setup
Connect Google Drive to Sherlock in 2 minutes
No code, no webhooks, no new dashboards. Beta users get direct onboarding support.
- 1
Authorize Google Drive via OAuth2
In the Sherlock Calls dashboard, click Connect Google Drive. You will be redirected to Google's OAuth2 consent screen — sign in and grant the drive.readonly permission. Sherlock never requests create, edit, or delete permissions.
- 2
Confirm read-only access
After authorization, Sherlock stores your OAuth2 access and refresh tokens securely. The drive.readonly scope restricts Sherlock to reading file content and metadata only — your Drive files remain protected from any modification.
- 3
Run your first Drive investigation
Ask 'Find the most recent contract document for Acme Corp in Drive' or 'Show me all Google Docs modified in the last 7 days related to Q1 sales' — Sherlock searches Drive and returns file content in Slack.

FAQ
Common questions about Sherlock + Google Drive
How does Sherlock Calls connect to Google Drive?
- Sherlock connects to Google Drive via Google OAuth2 with the drive.readonly scope. You authorize access through Google's standard consent screen — no passwords are shared. Access tokens are stored securely and refreshed automatically using your OAuth2 refresh token.
Can Sherlock Calls create, edit, or delete Drive files?
- No. Sherlock uses the drive.readonly scope exclusively — it can only search, list, and read file content. It cannot create new files, edit existing documents, move folders, or delete any Drive content. Your Drive is fully protected from modification.
What file types can Sherlock read from Google Drive?
- Sherlock can read Google Docs (exported as plain text), Google Sheets (exported as CSV), Google Slides (exported as plain text), PDFs, and plain text files. Binary files such as images or videos cannot be read for content but can be identified by filename and metadata in search results.
Can Sherlock correlate Drive documents with call records?
- Yes. When Google Drive is connected alongside a voice provider, Sherlock can combine document content with call data — for example, find the call report doc created after yesterday's escalation call, or surface the proposal sent before a prospect's last inbound call.
Does Sherlock store my Google Drive file content?
- No. Sherlock retrieves Drive file content in real time and returns it to Slack transiently — file content is not stored, indexed, or replicated in any Sherlock database. Your documents remain in Google Drive and are accessed only during an active investigation session.
